June 3, 2021, Huntington, N.Y.– Splashes of Hope a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1996 to help patients in need through therapeutic art were all about “big smiles” on Thursday afternoon at Renovation Kitchen & Cocktails in Lindenhurst, Long Island. Heather Buggée, Founder of Splashes Of Hope, the initial reaction to the generous check from restaurant owner Billy Miller for $14,879 was AMAZING!
Co-Presidents of Splashes of Hope were humbled and honored regarding the gift explains Roman & Monica Krawczyk who have been involved with the charity for 24 years. “It is all about the “Good Work” and we checked all the boxes for Renovation Kitchen. They look for local charities that meet the criteria of donations going to the projects and providing a tangible value to the local Long Island community. We offer our deepest gratitude to the Miller Family and Renovation Kitchen for the generous donation.”
Billy Miller explains, “it has been a long-time passion of mine to own a restaurant. Having worked in the service industry since I was fifteen, I knew the business well. However, I didn’t want to just open any restaurant. My wife and I wanted to open a restaurant with a purpose; a restaurant that would encourage people to slow down, gather around the dinner table, and embracing the simple moments in life.”
Billy and his wife Nicole further elaborate, “having worked for a nonprofit in the past, decided to combine my passion for helping people with my knowledge of the service industry. We decided to open up a restaurant that donated its net profits to charities and local families in need.”
Our goal for this restaurant is similar to the goal of the Odd Fellows who constructed the building in 1908; to restore faith in humanity, one person at a time. We truly believe we were meant to find this piece of Lindenhurst history and continue on its original pursuit. Therefore, it is with open arms that we invite you all to come into our home and help us to “Be the Good You Want to See in the World”. It is our promise that we will do the same.
Restoration Kitchen has a unique recipe for how the donations are calculated for the charities. Over a 4-month period, the restaurant staff presents their patrons with an opportunity to pick one of two charities for that particular period. There is a QR code at the table that allows that patron to learn about each charity and pick one. Billy explains, “It’s fun and engaging for my customers and they get to learn about some of the good charities doing good work in our community.”
